Clinical Pharmacist

Provides consultation to VO HI clinical and quality departments, analysis of HI pharmacy data and consultation to various provider entities as is consistent with contract requirements.
Review prescription and behavioral health (BH) claims data, become the point of contact with the State’s pharmacy vendor and participate along with the Medical Director in the overt support of program both in endorsement and ongoing discussions with prescribers.
Lead the work effort aimed at providing both fiscal and quality of care benefits to our members through an analysis of prescribing practices for our members. This program/protocol will include ongoing analysis, target identification and as necessary, progressive provider interventions designed to obtain the best results relative to quality of prescribing and cost savings through a series of stratified interventions as well as best practices.
The Director will support the Quality Department with pharmacy analysis for our members and be prepared to present results to outside stakeholders.
The Director will work with national VO regarding the development of company wide best pharmacy practices, strategic interventions and collaboration with other local entities who may be involved in collaborative efforts with the service center.
This position may be located in either Kapolei or Honolulu.
Requirements Education: Doctoral degree preferred. Must hold an active license in the state of Hawai'i. Two years of applied experience required. Two years of administrative management experience required. Two years of managed care experience required. Board Certification recommended.
Licensures: Licensed in the State of Hawai'i. Board Specialty in Pharmaceutical Sciences recommended.
Ability to understand interface of pharmacy and clinical interventions, particularly in terms of understanding and presentation of relevant data to support program interventions and models on both systems and behavioral health provider level.
Written and oral communication skills will be important to the success of this position.
