Ensures complete compliance with standard practices of profession and applicable laws. Performs variety of supervisory duties pertaining to personnel function and professional duties to enable practice of pharmaceutical care and highly effective customer service. Resolves problems, provides departmental leadership for specialty area while assuming functional and operational accountability. Performs pharmacist/clinical pharmacist duties as required. Supervises assigned staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate
  • Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned area
  • Manages payroll and/or non-payroll budget; monitors expenditures and ensures compliance with budget; promotes effective use of resource
  • Continually seeks opportunities to develop future leaders by ongoing coaching, mentoring, an! d leading by example
  • Participates and aligns function! al or operational area of responsibility in regional work plan development and revisions; is accountable for regional, department, and organizational leadership, oversight, and coordination for functional/operational area
  • Is responsible for national functional responsibility as assigned; ENGAGES in active participation to ensure appropriate Hawaii representation within national committees/work groups
  • Complies with new and current policies and procedures, state and federal regulations; Performs applicable and appropriate inspections to ensure organizational adherence; Develops and updates relevant policy and procedures as appropriate
  • Manages and improves area of responsibility by evaluating, coordinating, scheduling, and handling of requests and concerns
  • Provides effective leadership through example
  • Participates in personnel development through orienting, training, evaluating, rewarding, recognizing, celebrating, and coaching; con! sults with supervisor where applicable
  • Establishes consistent lines of communication to pharmacy leadership team, hospital and clinic administration, physicians, and other health care related services as required
  • Participates in regional as well as local pharmacy meetings

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
  • Completion of an emergency contraception training course approved by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE), curriculum-based programs from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy, applicable state or local health department programs, or programs recognized by the board of pharmacy
  • Valid Haw! aii Pharmacist license (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skills in change management, conflict resolution, decision making, group process facilitation, influence, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, project management, quality management, systems thinking, team building, teamwork, written communication, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications
  • Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone
  • Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English
  • Training/giving and receiving instructions
  • Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration and alertness
Additional Basic Qualifications for Manager I, Pharmaceutical Services:

  • Five years pharmacist experience
  • Two years supervisory experience
Additional Basic Q! ualifications for Manager II, Pharmaceutical Services:

  • Six years pharmacist experience
  • Three years supervisory in large/complex organizational environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an institution recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS)
Additional Preferred Qualifications for Manager I, Pharmaceutical Services:

  • One year Kaiser experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications for Manager II, Pharmaceutical Services:

  • Two years Kaiser experience
