Under general supervision, oversees pharmacy operations, clinical, and/or support activities in assigned area; ensures complete compliance w! ith standard practices of profession and applicable laws; performs variety of supervisory duties pertaining to personnel function and professional duties to enable practice of pharmaceutical care and highly effective customer service; resolves problems; provides departmental leadership for specialty area while assuming functional and operational accountability; performs pharmacist/clinical pharmacist duties as required; supervises assigned staff; serves as role model; demonstrates compliance and Principles of Responsibility; maintains confidentiality; protects organizational assets; exhibits ethics and integrity; adheres to applicable federal and state laws and regulations, accreditation and licensing requirements, policies and procedures; reports and/or resolves issues of non-compliance.

Essential Functions:

  • Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate
  • Communicates goals, objectives, ac! countabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assign! ed area
  • Manages payroll and/or non-payroll budget; monitors expenditures and ensures compliance with budget; promotes effective use of resources
  • Continually seeks opportunities to develop future leaders by ongoing coaching, mentoring, and leading by example
  • Participates and aligns functional or operational area of responsibility in regional work plan development and revisions; is accountable for regional, department, and organizational leadership, oversight, and coordination for functional/operational area.
  • Is responsible for national functional responsibility as assigned; engages in active participation to ensure appropriate hawaii representation within national committees/work groups
  • Complies with new and current policies and procedures, state and federal regulations; performs applicable and appropriate inspections to ensure organizational adherence; assists with and updates relevant policy and procedures as appropriate

  • Manages and improves area of responsibility by evaluating, coordinating, scheduling, and handling of requests and concerns

  • Establishes consistent lines of communication to pharmacy leadership team, hospital and clinic administration, physicians, and other health care related services as required
  • Participates in regional as well as local pharmacy meetings
  • Performs pharmacist duties as required; interprets and evaluates prescription orders for labeling and dispensing; compounds medications as required.
  • Directly supervises all activities and operations of p! harmacy, and functions and activities of pharmacist assistants and phar! macy technicians to insure all functions and activities are within appropriate scope of practice

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Five years of pharmacist experience
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Graduate of an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
  • Completion of an emergency contraception training course approved by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE), curriculum-based programs from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy, applicable state or local health department programs, or programs recognized by the board of pharmacy
  • Valid Hawaii Pharmacist license (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in the following: change management, conflict resolution, decision maki! ng, group process facilitation, influence, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, project management, quality management, systems thinking, team building, teamwork, written communication, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in the following PC application(s): word processing, spreadsheet, and database
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of Kaiser experience
  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an institution recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS)
