The Human Language Technology Center of Excellence at Johns Hopkins University has an immediate opening for Assistant Contractor Special Security Officer . The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the CSSO with performing all disciplines within security to include personnel security, physical security, communications security, document control, visitor control, and other duties as assigned.

The Johns Hopkins University Human Language Technology Center of Excellence (HLTCOE) is a world-class research center creating advanced techniques for analyzing a variety of video, image, speech, text, and document image data in a wide variety of diverse languages. Established in 2007, the HLTCOE is home to a growing group of outstanding research scientists and graduate students who utilize state-of-the-art technology to address unique and exciting challenge problems.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Monitoring, implementing, and enforcing security practices and procedures.
Creating and tracking incoming/outgoing visit requests.
Maintenance of the HLTCOE visitor badge roster for secure spaces.
Initiating, submitting, coordinating, and tracking to completion personnel security clearances using client-mandated processes and procedures.
Assisting CSSO with maintenance of facility security and UL2050 requirements.
Updating and maintaining Contractor Program Roster Log (eCPRL).
Ensuring SCIF-required documents are kept up to date.
Assisting CSSO with the coordination of security briefings.
Assisting CSSO with preparation of annual government security reviews.
Other duties as assigned.
The Assistant CSSO reports to the CSSO, and is part of the broader Johns Hopkins University security professional community.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of security related experience.
Ability to use standard information processing systems such as Microsoft Office with minimal supervision.
US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of COMSEC.
Knowledge of DISS.
Experience with SIMS or other relevant security databases.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
