Clinical Pharmacist

Location: Honolulu, Hawaii

Description: AlohaCare is looking of Clinical Pharmacist right now, this position will be dwelled in Hawaii. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide clinical pharmacy expertise and support to various clinical/utilization initiatives related to drug management at AlohaCare. This involves close coordination and interface with the Plan’s Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM), Medical Directors, other Clinical Division Departments, Provider Network, and AlohaCare Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee under the direction of the AlohaCare Medical Director, Director of Clinical Operations, and Clinical Operations and Pharmacy Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist P&T Chair on every aspect of the P&T process, which includes creating and presenting drug monographs/information to the P&T Committee for review.

Assist in development of notification for members / providers on formulary changes / updates.

Develop, review/update, implement, and maintain the AlohaCare formularies as required by Federal/State agencies.

Develop, implement, and maintain drug use criteria with close coordination with Medical Directors and clinical staff responsible for drug coverage review or prior authorizations.

Interface with Providers and internal AlohaCare departments on issues related to the formularies, drug use criteria, and/or P&T process.

Support clinical and non-clinical aspects of the drug coverage review or prior authorization process.

Review pharmacy utilization and provide recommendations on medication-therapy management (MTM)/disease-management (DM) initiatives and population-based drug utilization review (DUR), which will include interfacing telephonically with Members and Providers.

Develop, implement, and manage DUR initiatives to promote the cost-effective use of medications while maintaining or improving the quality of drug use.

Develop and deliver education to internal and external customers on the formulary and therapeutic drug alternatives and other drug information needs at AlohaCare.

Assist in the review of Part D PDEs to verify Part B vs Part D claims.

Assist with pharmacy benefit set-ups with PBM in compliance with QUEST RFP and CMS.

Interface with AlohaCare’s PBM regarding the formularies and benefit requirements related to the clinical aspects of drug coverage.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Competencies and Qualifications:
2+ years experience in a retail pharmacy.

2+ years experience in a managed health care setting.

Required Education, Licensure or Certification:
Doctorate degree in Pharmacy.

Licensed in the State of Hawaii as a registered pharmacist.

Preferred Competencies and Qualifications:
5+ years experience in managed care pharmacy

Completion of an ASHP accredited post-graduate residency

Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Basic understanding and use of MS Access and/or other databases desired.
