Ensures complete compliance w/ standard practices of professional & applicable l! aws. Performs variety of supervisory duties pertaining to personnel function & professional duties to enable practice of pharmaceutical care & highly effective customer service. Resolves problems. Supervises assigned staff.
Essential Functions:
- Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, & terminates assigned staff as appropriate
- Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, & authority parameters to assigned staff
- Manages payroll &/or non-payroll budget. Monitors expenditures & ensures compliance w/ budget. Promotes effective use of resources
- Facilitates staff participation in supporting pharmaceutical care
- Serves as team player to implement & continually improve related work processes
- Seeks opportunities to enhance internal/external customer pharmacy experience/satisfaction by developing, coaching, mentoring, leading by example, & seeking staffs' active participation in custome! r service/service excellence training & skill enhancement !
- Participates in regional work plan development & revision. Aligns & prioritizes pharmacy staff activities to enable department to achieve goals
- Provides leadership, oversight, & coordination for all regional drug initiatives at individual pharmacy site
- Assists in operationalizing outcome care maps & disease state management plans per departmental goals
- Provides information & offers advice regarding treatment to patient or provider, as applicable
- Serves as resource in areas of maintenance & appropriate utilization of regional drug formulary, Drug Utilization Review (DUR) & Medication Use Evaluation (MUE) activities, & disease management initiates. Develops staffs' knowledge, skill, & ability to do same
- Complies w/ new & current policies & procedures, state & federal regulations. Performs applicable & appropriate inspections to ensure organizational adherence
- Manages & improves area of responsibility by evaluating, co! ordinating, scheduling, & handling of requests & concerns
- Oversees inventory management, as applicable
- Ensures security of pharmacy & pharmaceuticals, as applicable
- Provides effective leadership through example
- Participates in personnel development through orientating, training, evaluating, rewarding, recognizing, celebrating, & coaching. Consults w/ supervisor where applicable
- Establishes consistent lines of communication to pharmacy leadership, hospital & clinic administration, physicians, & other health care related services
- Participates in regional as well as local pharmacy meetings
- Performs pharmacist duties as required
- Operates, maintains, & troubleshoots all aspects including computer system, conveyor system, printers, filling stations, vial & cap loaders, video system, & any other equipment related to automated refill system
- Maintains computerized records for automated refill system
- Enforces medication security not limited to medication loading & ! storage, cross contamination, lot number control, & inventory control
- Understands maintenance protocol for automated refill system such as routine cleaning
- Works at multiple workstations w/in ARC on rotational basis to include phone activities in bullpen, order entry, manual filling of prescriptions, verification of prescriptions & checking for accuracy
Basic Qualifications:
- Two years of supervisory experience in a large, outpatient or related setting
- Graduate from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
- Valid Hawaii Pharmacist license (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure)
- Demonstrated ability to safely handle &/or prepare various pharmaceutical compounds (e.g., chemotherapeutic agents, biologicals)
- Demonstrated knowledge of & skill in adaptability, change management, conflict reso! lution, customer service, decision making, group presentations, influence, interpersonal relations, leadership, oral communication, problem solving, quality management, staff development/coaching, strategic thinking/strategy development, team building, teamwork, & written communication
- Demonstrated knowledge of & skill in word processing, spreadsheet & database PC applications
- One year of ARC experience
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from a school recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education
- Completion of a general residency program
