Under direct supervision of Automated Refill Service Pharmacy Supervisor, pharmacist-in-charge, or other designee, prepares completed prescription for shipment to Pla! n Members and Medical Offices. Performs variety of routine and semi-routine clerical duties pertaining to prescription requests, servicing of patients/customers, and cashiering; transcribes and files prescription requests.
Essential Functions:
- Selects appropriate packaging container for completed prescription; packages orders, blank mail order form and patient medication information assuring integrity of contents; seals package and meters; prepares necessary documentation for carrier selected to deliver
- Sorts packages and assures accuracy and timeliness for shipment to medical offices
- Prints and includes manifests with packages
- Monitors on-hand status of pharmaceutical, office, cashiering supplies and medications necessary to perform assigned tasks and complete orders as necessary
- Possesses general knowledge of current health plan/non plan policies and coverage as documented in summary of benefits; keeps abrea! st of all health plan benefit changes; explains provisions of ! annual co-payment maximum policy to patients/customers; verifies health plan status via computer
- Greets customers and staff by phone in caring and helpful manner; reroutes calls as appropriate; retrieves voicemail messages; transcribes prescription requests
- Matches hard copy prescriptions with prescription labels and files prescriptions numerically
- Operates computerized cashiering system (or cash register) by entering transactions to post appropriate charges for services and supplies; collects cash, check or credit card payments; verifies information is accurate on all checks; validates checks and credit slips; balances monies, checks, credit card charge documents daily against cash jacket report and/or cash register receipts; reconciles any discrepancy; prepares bank deposit
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide care and/or service appropriate to age groups served
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and ! abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service
- Performs other duties and accepts responsibility, as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- Six months customer service experience
- High school diploma
- Ability to safely handle and/or prepare compounds such as chemotherapeutic agents, biologicals or other medications
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in oral communication, written communication, interpersonal relations, customer service, detail-orientation, prioritize workload, multi-tasking
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications
- Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone
- Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English
- Training/giving and receiving instructions
- Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g., organization, prioritizati! on, proofing), concentration, and alertness
- Six months pharmacy experience
- Six months cashiering experience
- Knowledge of Kaiser systems and benefits
